Most magic in the modern age is weakening everyday ever since the Old War except for the ancient dark and forbidden magic whose raw power keeps itself from degrading. Yui is one of the lucky few who had a large source of old magic that hadn’t degraded over the years. Ancient relics of this sort were rare and sought after, and kept as close secrets by the beholder. They often came from powerful magical creatures. Yui, like many others, took on odd jobs by corporations, but at her heart, Yui is an artist and loves to paint murals and art on the streets. Disturbingly, her pieces have a secret and sinister purpose, as Yui practices an old form of magic, Glyphomancy which derives power in images and written symbols. This ability allows her to maintain large amounts of power whenever she is fighting on her own turf and to spring traps which change reality or summon creatures simply through the murals she paints. She is never found without a can of spray paint, in the case she needs to quickly scrawl a glyph for a daring escape or to spring a trap.

Yui is upwards of 500 years old and was witness to several eras of civilization from the Old World to the modern era that is defined by the effects of the Old War. Though you’d think this would have a damaging effect on a person, Yui is unique in the sense that she is able to adapt seamlessly to her environment.
